Hello guys, it’s yet another year added to my age but this time a little more special. It was my frigging silver jubilee on Saturday 20th of January 2018! I’ve hit that huge milestone and I couldn’t be more grateful. I’m in health, I’m on my grind, I own my own company, I’m serving my country, furthering my career and life is good.
If however I was asked several years ago, say in my teens, how my big 25 was gonna look I would have had other ideas. Most of us would agree with me that then, we could have sworn we would be married with two kids, own a mansion and be multimillionaires. Lol.. life comes at you fast doesn’t it? This is the real world right here and I’m learning the ropes, savoring each and every experience and taking charge. I really won’t have it any other way.
As far as celebrations were concerned, well, I personally would have thought a luxurious birthday weekend getaway with a few friends was like my perfect 25th birthday package. But sis, that requires them funddsss! In the end I opted to do a photoshoot instead and left the rest in the hands of God (I cannot kee mysef). Guess who still had a swell time tho? That’s right… yours truly.
I did a photoshoot on Tuesday night with my photographer plug Ayo Alasi. My girls Halima and Zainab came through for me.
Earlier in the day I had gone to get my hair styled by the lovely Yetunde Salvador. You all should remember her from one of my bridal shoots I posted here. I wanted the shoot to have a royal theme and who else could I go to than the one that turns brides into queens. She did an excellent job as usual and I swear I didn’t even take out the style until two days after lmao.
It was a 4 outfit shoot and 2 out of the wears were provided by Halima who is a fashion designer (check out her page). She brought in some amazing designs and it was a really beautiful shoot!
I haven’t been a fan of age balloons all these years but I felt it was necessary for this milestone. Proudly got my silver jubilee no 25 balloon from the party store at the mall. The other props which were the tiara and sash were provided by my girl Ify of the event starters party business.
She even had my balloon pumped for free. So sweet of her.
My other two outfits included a grand couture dress I’ve had for a while (over 2years already). I won it from the one and only NHNCOUTURE herself in one of her generous Instagram giveaways. I only ever wore it once when I bested my friend at her wedding. Ever since it’s just been sitting in my closet waiting for that perfect occasion. The details on the dress are just spectacular, designed by the top Turkish Designer Fouard Sarkis, It was definitely a show stopper.
I decided to go a bit less dressy but still classy for the other outfit. This grey piece was also something I’ve had for a couple of months and I only wore on one day no one saw me and I couldn’t get a full pic lol. I loved how it blended effortlessly with the silver accessories and how the pink sash just popped against the grey. My personal favorite after the green dress.
The entire shoot was lovely even despite major setbacks like starting out late, generator giving issues and getting the pictures from the photographer at the last minute ( if you know naija photographers you know).
I was in my element of course. I always blossom before the camera. I let it all out and decided to have fun with it and my girls were with me to ginger me up!
As for the birthday celebration I decided to party into my birthday from Friday night into Saturday. I got my hair and nails done during the day gathered my friends and we all dressed up and did our makeup from my place.
We were like 5 girls all together and more friends joined us at the venue both male and female. including my birthday mate who surprisingly we were born same day same year, even our names are almost the same (Onyin and Oyin). It was a lit night all together! We had two venues first was The Kabaal Ikoyi then Club 1089 at Caspers and Gambinis Victoria Island all in Lagos baby!
After the partying a friend of ours offered to have us at his serviced apartment at Kings Court Ikoyi with a pool and nice view fam!! I had a swell time. I checked skinny dipping off my bucket list that night. Under the early morning sky with my friends.. that was a great way to start my birthday! Running out the pool so we don’t get seen, sneaking to put your clothes back on we’re just one of those moments…… that unfortunately couldn’t be captured on camera! Lmao!
…then headed out to have a mini dinner at the Shiro Japanese fusion restaurant then headed to a strip club afterwards (don’t judge me) I mean, you only turn 25 once right?
And that was my birthday celebration in summary! For someone who didn’t really have a concrete plan or get her perfect “getaway” I think it was relatively lit! And uno, the party continues, living life like everyday is my birthday unowaramsayin (in cardi’s voice lmao).
Special thanks to all those who made my day special.. (you know yourselves) much love!
You know I’m awesome, xoxo
