Hello guys, today I’m going to be reviewing my favorite product from a brand that has gained popularity in the beauty industry here in Nigeria. It’s called the Arami Glow Oil.
I’ve only ever tried their glow oil and let me just say I’m currently on my third bottle. I only began using the product this year.
Let’s get into the review now.
According to the website, the arami glow oil is made from raw shea oil only. It comes in two ranges which are the “Unscented” and the “Sweet Oud”. I believe the only other ingredient would be the sweet oud fragrance oil used if you are getting the scented one. Otherwise, raw shea oil is the only listed ingredient in this product.
Shea oil also known as shea nut oil is a product of the nut of Karite tree which also produces shea butter. The oil is actually said to be a by product during the production of shea butter and was usually discarded until someone discovered its usefulness. It is high in Oleic fatty acids, which makes it very moisturizing and it has been found to heal skin conditions such as eczema, rosacea, psoriasis and so on. It is also great for hair.
PACKAGING AND PRICING
I must give my hats off to the Arami products packaging. It is minimalistic, very unique yet tasteful and aesthetically pleasing. I have to confess they were one of the brands that inspired me when trying to decide on the packaging for my own product line.
They usually deliver their products in a paper box which is absolutely creative. It has like an aluminum interior with their details printed on it. It also comes with one or two thank you cards with a message inscribed on it “peace that passeth all understanding” and/or “Everything will be beautiful in its own time “. Very inspirational. Absolutely beautiful.
The glow oil comes in a clear plastic bottle with a silver cap which is quite pretty and a minimal black and white sticker displaying the product name. It’s easily dispensed obviously but without a stopper it was so prone to spilling. I remember I kept spilling my first bottle and it quite heartbreaking. Thankfully they have fixed that a couple of months back by announcing they now come with stoppers so it can be dispensed with less waste. I haven’t tried any of those yet cuz I bought my current bottle before that.
It retails for 2500 only. The price margin of most of their products are pretty dope.
CONSISTENCY AND FORMULA
I mean for oils, you really get what you pay for. If it’s a heavy oil you get an heavy oil, if it’s naturally light, it would feel light. The consistency is what I absolutely love about this product. It is super clear with that yellow tint and light to touch, non-sticky and easily absorbed into the skin. A little of this goes a long way.
I had initially gotten the unscented ones for my first two bottles because I’m not a fan of fragrance in products as they can be problematic. However I decided to go for the Sweet Oud for the next one and oh my, the scent is lovely. It didn’t irritate my skin one bit.
It is just as light and gentle in formula as the unscented one. I always love to wear it in the evenings when I’m with the Mr or out on a date. It really has the best scent even your man would agree 😉 (I just threw a quick tip in there if you caught that). I mean going to bed smelling basic is so 2008 (rolls eye).
The website says it’s safe for use on both face and body. I am super careful about oils on my face especially a less common one like this shea oil. I didn’t know what it ranked on the comodegenicity scale and I have acne prone skin so I use this as a body oil only. However I found it rates only 0-2 on the scale and many people report great results for the face so you are free to try it.
Initially I would use this during the day and night but I later limited use to only at night for reasons I explained in my review on the Ajali body butter. It however didn’t cause any “frying” or darkening when I did use it daytime and sometimes when I’m indoors I still indulge myself during the day.
I don’t really use it on my hair but it did well the one time I tried and I found out it is also a great leave in conditioner for your weaves (*whispers* dont tell anyone).
Using this really helped even out my skin. That is one visible effect from using this product regularly. It keeps blemishes at bay and fades scars giving your skin a healthy glow (hence the name glow oil). It also has all the usual effects that come with using oils such as softening of the upper layer of the skin and characteristic shiny appearance though this is non-greasy. Shea oil as a by product of the production of shea butter comes with the good stuff also. So if you have damaged skin from harsh chemicals, stretchmarks, pregnancy marks and all of that, this product could also help.
Overall I would give this product a 95%. There’s literally no disadvantage in using this product. The only thing that might have posed a problem which is the bottle, has been fixed. It is safe, cheap and gets the job done as far as moisturizing and blemish control is concerned… and of course you WILL glow. There’s nothing as amazing as a product that exceeds your expectations.
I hope you all enjoyed the review. Don’t forget to share, comment and subscribe so you don’t miss future posts. Till next time….
You know I’m awesome, xoxo.
